Kona Traffic Safety Committee meets
Kona Traffic Safety Committee will meet from 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 to discuss traffic issues with public officials who can make a difference. Everyone is welcome.
The committee meets the second Thursday of each month in the Mayors Conference Room of the West Hawaii Community Center on Kealakehe Parkway on the second floor in Building C above the license bureau.
Church hosts healing and miracle services
Three healing and miracle services featuring David Yanez are planned at Kona Christian Church, 74-5490 Kaiwi St. Bay H.
The services are planned for Friday evening, Nov. 11, Saturday evening, Nov. 12 and Sunday morning Nov. 13. Call 334-1077 for times.

Cancer support group meeting date moved
Because of the busy holiday season, the cancer support group that usually meets on the last Tuesday evening of each month at Teshima’s Restaurant will have their November gathering on Friday, Nov. 11 at Fumi’s Restaurant. Also there will be no meeting in December.
The next Tuesday meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 31 at Teshima’s Restaurant in Honalo. People newly diagnosed with cancer and cancer survivors are welcome. Caregivers and supportive family members are also invited.
The group meets to share cancer-related issues and to lend support to one another. Women are encouraged to learn about breast cancer risks and early detection to help make informed decisions with their doctors about their breast health.

Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve seeks advisory council applicants
NOAA’s Northwestern Hawaiian Islands Coral Reef Ecosystem Reserve is seeking applicants for three seats on its advisory council. The council ensures public participation in reserve management and provides advice to the sanctuary superintendent.
The reserve is accepting applications for the following seats: commercial fishing (primary and alternate); and research (alternate).
Candidates are selected based on their expertise and experience in relation to the seat for which they are applying, community and professional affiliations, and views regarding the protection and management of marine resources. Applicants who are chosen as members or alternates should expect to serve a two-year term, or until a different advisory body is created pursuant to Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument’s management plan.
Applications are due Wednesday, Nov. 30.
